USAWKF Meeting in Baltimore 3/2/01-3/4/01
On the weekend of 3/2/01 Sifu Anthony Goh hosted the annual national meeting for the United States of America Wushu Kungfu Federation, Inc., at the National Headquarters here in Baltimore. Him knowing of yours truly for over the last 15 years, being an activist of the Chinese Martial Arts, and being a current member of the federation, invited me to be in attendance, of which I was honored, and graciously accepted. However, an incident took place on that Friday of 3/2/01 that I found most disturbing. Beyond that, what I found more appalling is that someone intentionally falsified the chain of events that took place on that day, a week later to put these lies and deceptive accounts on the web site, and last but not least had the nerve and audacity to sign Sifu Jeff Bolt's name to it. The reason I say someone signed his name is because of knowing him to be such a highly respected member of the Chinese Martial Arts Community for a very long time I personally find it difficult to believe that he would resort to lying and deceitfulness in order to gain support for his views!
The message, put on the web site said in essence that (or gave the notion) the board members traveled from various parts of the country to Baltimore in order to sit down and discuss their differences with Sifu Goh in an amicable fashion. It further gave the notion that upon their arrival (despite them conducting themselves in a mannerly and professional way) he ordered them out and called the police. This can't be further away from the truth as to what actually had taken place. Yes, they did enter in an orderly fashion and extended handshakes to those that had gathered. I then heard and saw Sifu Goh announce that "This is an informal gathering tonight, we are waiting for other guests to arrive whose flights have been delayed because the expected snow storm. When they arrive we have a dinner engagement. The actual meeting begins at 10 a.m., tomorrow, of which you are all invited to attend." At this none of the uninvited guest made any motion to leave, Sifu Goh again repeated the same announcement, but louder in overcoming the talking that was taking place and people may not have heard his first announcement. Still no one motioned toward the door, instead several of them left the lobby area, where all of this was taking place, and entered and seated themselves in the room reserved for the meeting, scheduled the next day. Seeing what their position was obviously going to be, I saw Sifu Goh becoming irritated in a stern voice "This is my place, you are disrespecting my school and you are trespassing. if you don't leave I'm going to call the police." He instructed his student "Meagan, call the police." At this the individuals began to leave. All of this could have been avoided if only the first two requests were complied with.
Now as far as the issue of making a special trip to Baltimore to talk with Sifu Goh, the web site didn't mention that Grandmaster Tai Yim was hosting their meeting at his locale in Wheaton, Maryland on Saturday, 3/3/01 and the other letter coming from the business office in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania requesting his presence on 3/3/01 and closing with an ultimatum if he didn't. Other issues that allegedly took place I did not see nor heard. The aforementioned is what I saw and heard and can only attest to that of the same.
